Vintage Wine Bar and Evoe! Rosé
“The world looks better through Rosé coloured glasses.” – Sideroad Twenty Colors
My recent travels took me to an area of San Jose known as Santana Row. Santana Row is a fun mixed-development complex with shopping, dining, office, apartments and the Vintage Wine Bar. During a private tasting event at the Vintage Wine Bar, I was introduced to a beautiful Rosé from Germany – Schnaitmann Evoé! Rosé (http://www.weingut-schnaitmann.de/) . I have enjoyed Rosés from America and France so experiencing a German Rosé was a first.
First, let me tell you about the Vintage Wine Bar. It is a popular gathering spot having just received the“Best Wine Bar”award in San Jose. The outside of the building is reminiscent of a European church with intimate seating around the bar and a cozy patio area out back. The patio is perfect for sitting outdoors during the usually moderate temperatures in San Jose.
There are over 25 wines and champagnes for you to enjoy by the glass and the varietals there are an excellent selection from around the world. Vintage Wine Bar hosts regular tastings and offers a Wine Club with special selections with pricing for everyone from the Grand Cru to Vintage Values. If you are in the Santana Row area stop by the Vintage Wine Bar. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and are dedicated to providing excellent service.
Now to the Evoe! Rosé. This is a medium weight Rosé with a full flower bouquet. It was the scent that actually drew me in. The wine is a blend of Pinot Noir and Trollinger that comes from the German region of Wurttemberg in the Southwest corner of the country. Rainer Schnaitmann has developed the winery in a short 15 years going from 21 acres to 61 and becoming one of the top producers in the region.
Evoe! Rosé has a bright lemon zest with hints of strawberry. The Rose lively and a perfect pairing during summer with cheese, light meats and fruits.
PositiveVines‘ HelpfulTip: Württemberg’s vineyards are on the slop of the Neckar River. This region produces some of Germany’s finest wines. It is also home to some of the finest cars in the world – Audi, Porsche and Mercedes Benz.
You may have to ask your local wine store owner if they stock this Rosé since it does not appear to be widely distributed in the U.S. I found a wide price variety online from $10.00 per bottle on WineOnline.com (full case price) to individual bottles at $18.99 from thewinecountry.com.
