My Wine Life Residential Cellar Management

Regina Jones Jackson – Guest Blogger Founder & Principal Wine Consultant Corks and Cuvee   Dank and dusty are words one might use to describe a wine cellar. The days of cobwebs and dusty residential wine cellars are a thing of the past.  Let me

A taste of Italy in the beautiful mountains of Colorado Springs

“People spend their entire lives at those lower altitudes without any awareness that this high country exists” – Robert Pirsig   The history of the wild west evokes images of rugged trails, horses and adventurers mining for gold in harsh conditions. Colorado Springs is filled

Valentine’s Day is for Wine Lovers!

“Through Love all that is bitter will be sweet, Through Love all that is copper will be gold, Through Love all dregs will become wine, through Love all pain will turn to medicine.” – Rumi
Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day and if you haven’t found the perfect wine to pair with your dinner and chocolates, I’ve got a couple of great selections. The first is a full and smooth Pinot Noir from MacMurray Estate Vineyards (www.macmurray.com).

MacMurray vineyards provides a wide selection of Pinot Noirs at a variety of price ranges. I will be highlighting the Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. This region is located in the heart of Sonoma County, California and is known for a wide variety of vineyards that produce world class Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays. Pinot Noir grows best in a cooler climate and with the Russian River Valley located just north of San Francisco, the climate and terroir are perfect for the varietal. MacMurray’s Russian River Pinot Noir has fragrances of lavender and boysenberry. Lavender is my favorite scent so I am partial to the nose on this wine. Dark red in color, MacMurray Pinot Noir features flavors of cherry and pomegranate. 8 months of barrel aging in French and American Oak give this wine a smooth vanilla finish. This wine goes well with a variety of dishes including pasta, chicken, seafood and a variety of steaks. At $28 average retail, this Pinot Noir is a great value for a top of the line varietal.

The next wine that I will feature is Rosa Regale. This is a bubbly cranberry red sparkling wine with a light sweet taste. Rosa Regale (www.roseregale.com ) is produced by Banfi Vineyards in the Piedmont area of Italy. Piedmont borders France and Switzerland. This bubbly has a beautiful rose and berry fragrance that lingers. The flavor is reminiscent of raspberries and strawberries. 100% Brachetto grapes are used to produce Rosa Regale. Enjoy this wine with seafood, cheese and your favorite chocolates. It is best served chilled. Rosa Regale averages $25 per bottle. This time of year, there should be a wine retailer who has it on sale as it’s a favorite for Valentine’s Day.

Enjoy your day and your night with those that you love!

Remember to drink what it is that makes you truly happy and always think positively!
Drink Responsibly!

Red Wines for the Family Tasting

“Accept what life offers you and try to drink from every cup. All wines should be tasted; some should only be sipped, but with others, drink the whole bottle.” – Paulo Coelho   My family started the New Year with our traditional dinner of ham,
