I’m back! It’s been almost a year since I last wrote, and in that time, work, family, and a search for clarity about my passions have kept me busy. After some reflection, I’ve decided to focus on wine education and the sustainability efforts within the industry.
The global decline in wine sales, including in the U.S., is undeniable. Small, elite wineries are being swallowed up by large conglomerates, and younger generations are increasingly turning away from alcoholic beverages.
However, strategic winemakers are adapting, finding innovative ways to create products that can compete with these trends. Emphasizing sustainability, offering lower-alcohol options, and enhancing wine quality are some of the promising paths forward.
So, let’s kick off this reboot by delving into Napa Valley—a region known for its diverse winemakers, unique microclimates, and new approaches to rekindle the love of wine among younger audiences.
